The online M.S. in Financial Planning is designed for individuals who are seeking not only to sit for the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) examination, but also a master’s degree level experience that goes beyond certificate education and explores the financial planning profession with experienced tenure-track UGA faculty. This non-thesis masters program is conducted in cooperation with the Board of Standards for the Certified Financial Planner® program.
Financial planners are increasingly in demand as individuals and families seek advisers to help manage their income, assets, and debts. One of the fastest growing career tracks, financial planners find employment in companies such as banks, insurance companies, brokerage firms, or in benefits and pension departments of corporations. Others are more entrepreneurial, choosing to establish their own practice.
The CFP(R) exam pass rate for UGA financial planning graduates is about 60%, which is slightly above the national average. Four of six students passed the exam in November 2014. We do not require our students to take the CFP(R) exam. Unless the student provides permission, the CFP(R) Board does not provide information about individual students.
Our online M.S. is offered to residents of most states. Here's a current list of states; if you do not reside in one of the states listed, consider attending classes on-site.
This webinar discusses the online M.S. in Financial Planning, the course structure, introduces the faculty, explains the application process, and will take you through a sample class. Run time: 37 mins.
